Conor Kissane is Munster Hill Climb champ on Lacca

Having enjoyed a very strong season and been upgraded into the A1 ranks Conor Kissane has now retained his Munster Hill Climb Championships title.

On Lacca Climb in Kilmallock, Co Limerick, Kissane broke the course record. He went under the 4 minute marker on the 1.2km climb.

Kissane got to within three seconds last year but this time around did the climb in 3:44. He was 17 seconds ahead of Denis Lynch (Sliabh Luachra CC).

And in that A1 contest it was Ciaran Slattery of Tralee Manor West iBike who took 3rd; clocking a time of 4.37.

The women's event produced a really tight contest for gold; the top two only separated by a single second on the day.

Just about taking the 2017 title was Lisa Stapelbroek. The Kenmare CC rider's 5.25 was enough to put one over on silver medal winner Orla Desmond of TC Racing.

Rounding out the podium was Anne Goggin; taking her bronze in the colours of the promoting club Southside Wheely Wheelers.

Conor Coleman of Comeragh CC took the junior title; his 4.20 would have been good enough for A1 bronze on the day.

And 11 seconds behind him was Fionn O'Dwyer of Raparee CC for the silver.

In the Masters 40 race strongman Dermot Radford of Tipperary Wheelers claimed gold.

His time of 3.58 was nine seconds quicker than Jerry McCarthy (Tralee Manor West iBike).
