Having impressed just after the start of the season, during Easter Weekend, at the Gorey Three Day where he held yellow, Conor Dooney has hit the mark, and this time in Co Donegal.

The Foyle Cycling Club rider, a former top runner, was out on his own in Ballyshannon after a very wet, but all-action, race.

The Round the Houses Race, promoted by Donegal Bay CC, was run on a circuit in the town, with Dooney pulling clear solo in the latter stages to win from Mel McShane (Sligo Cycling Team) and Darragh McCarter (Spellman Dublin Port).

Dooney claimed it solo after a final lap attack, by about 20 seconds from McShane, who also finished on his own in the runner-up spot.

And just a few seconds after McShane crossed the line, on the uphill drag in the town after eight laps of 4.5km, strongman McCarter won the drag race to the line at the font of the bunch to complete the podium.
