Conal Scully and Shauna Finn have won the Irish junior gold medals at the National TT Championships in Co Tipperary.
Scully, an established junior international riding for Carlow RCC, rode the 32.13km course in a time of 4`1:51, which was 15 seconds faster than `Quillan Donnelly of Usher Irish Road Club; one of the emerging young Irish riders this season.
Another man making great strides in the junior ranks this year, Adam Rafferty of US Colomiers, took the bronze medal 39 seconds down on Scully on a night when his brother - Darren Rafferty - won the U23 crown.
In the Irish junior women's title race, Shauna Finn confirmed her potential with victory; the Newcastle West CC rider taking gold in 52:26. As was the case in the elite women's title race, the top juniors were separated by a tiny margin.
Katie Reilly of Orwell Wheelers took the silver medal and was just 1.8 seconds down on winner Finn. One of the riders of the season to date, Erin Grace Creighton (McConvey Cycles) won bronze, some 39 seconds down on new champion Finn.
