Comeback man Ciaran Kelly romps in for A3 win in Co Kildare; Mark McGauley takes A4

Ciaran Kelly (Bikeworx) took the A3 race at the Ned Flanagan Memorial today, Sunday. Seen here riding in his Sean Kelly Team days.

Having returned to the Irish peloton for a handful of outings last year after a break from racing for many seasons, former Sean Kelly Team rider Ciaran Kelly has gotten his comeback off to a fine start today. He took victory in the A3 event at the Ned Flanagan Memorial race in Monasterevin, Co Kildare.

Kelly, riding under the sponsorship of his own Bikeworx shop in Celbridge, Co Kildare, saw off veteran rider and fellow fast man John Priest (Lucan CRC) for the win after 60km of racing, with Dolmen's Darragh Feely rounding out the podium.

Conor McDunphy of Lucan CRC took the juniors prize while Aideen Keenan of Orwell took the women's prize.

In the separate A4 race, which was run off on the same 60km course as the A3 race and the A1&A2 event, Mark McGauley of the MAD club showed he is not just an off road rider, taking the win from Thomas Dougan (Dolmen) and Niall Whelan (Complex CC).

We'll have more later.
