Cavendish wins again in Turkey after bad crash in sprint finish | Video

Mark Cavendish has taken his third stage win at the Tour of Turkey today. Several riders were taken to hospital after a bad crash across the width of the road just before the finish

Mark Cavendish has taken his third victory in three days after winning the bunch sprint that concluded stage 4 of the Tour of Turkey after a nasty crash marred the finish.

At the end of the 184.4km stage, from Alanya to Kemer, Cavendish (Deceuninck-QuickStep) waited behind Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Fenix) before pulling the trigger at the last moment and again winning it well.

The crash that marred the finish took place just behind the lead riders on the road and it did not slow them. However, several riders crashed into the crash barriers at the side of the road and at least one rider crashed through the barriers.

After the stage end several riders could be seen walking down the finishing straight carrying broken bikes. Several riders were taken to hospital for checks after the crash, which saw the fallers strewn across the road and others hitting the barriers on both sides of the road.
