Caoimhe O'Brien (DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK) has taken her second win of the week in Belgium after a breakaway ride in the Grand Prix Ets Rolland Warnon in Emptinne.
The Irish rider, who was 4th in the road race at the National Road Championships his year and won U23 gold, adds her victory on Thursday to the win she took on Tuesday at Maria-ter-Heide Brasschaat.
The 22-year-old's latest win, after 82.5km of kermesse racing, was secured when she won the four-up sprint from the breakaway, which was 10 seconds up on the main peloton.
In that breakaway with O'Brien was her British team mate, Robyn Clay, along with Belgian Marieke Meert (VolkerWessels Women's Pro Cycling Team), British rider Alex Morrice (Canyon//SRAM Racing), Britain's Henrietta Colborne (GT Krush Rebellease) and Paquita Derie (Baloise-WB Ladies)
O'Brien got the better of Meert in the final sprint to the line, from Clay - making it a 1-3 for DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK - with Morrice in fourth place.
The sprint for 7th, from the bunch, was won by American rider Kimberly Stoveld (AUTOMATIC | ABUS Racing) just 10 seconds after O'Brien crossed the line in victory in her national champion's livery.
O'Brien and her younger sister Aoife (Cyclingteam Belco-Van Eyck), have been enjoying a very strong run in Belgium in recent weeks.
Both have been selected onto the Irish team for the upcoming Rás na mBan and will be gunning for stage wins in the Kilkenny-based stage race.
