Caleb Ewan has denied Sam Bennett his third win in four days at UAE Tour

Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal) has denied Sam Bennett his third victory in just four days at UAE Tour.

At the end of the 147km stage from Yas Mall to Abu Dhabi Breakwater Bennett and his Deceuninck-QuickStep team combined well, but Ewan and his lead-out men had the measure of this time around.

Both Bennett and Ewan looked to be boxed in at various moments in the sprint, which was very hard fought and chaotic, with lots movement in the final couple of kilometres.

And while Bennett eventually reconnected with his lead-out man Michael Mørkøv and kicked before Ewan, the Australian then came through very fast.

Once Bennett and Ewan were both sprinting hard for the finish and had a clear line, Ewan looked a little bit faster and in the end he went passed Bennett for victory.

A little earlier in the race a large group of riders broke clear of the peloton and gained about 30 seconds, with both Sam Bennett and his lead out man Michael Mørkøv in that lead group; underlining their brilliant early season form.
