Ronan Burke (Galway Bay CC) has taken victory in the Connacht Road Race Championships at the end of 83km of racing in Carna, Co Galway, today.
Burke spent much of the race up the road in a two-man breakaway and emerged with the Connacht crown after getting the verdict in a tight sprint.
Last year's provincial title winner, Bren Broekaart (Challenge CC), was with Burke up the road today but had to settle for the silver this time around.
Junior rider Philip O'Connor of Dungarvan CC placed 3rd, and took junior gold, while Conor Gath of Galway Bay CC was 4th and took the A1 bronze medal behind Burke and Broekaart.
More to come.
