Declan Kinch started the Wexford Two Day A3 race third overall this morning and went for broke for stage and yellow jersey glory. While he achieved the latter, the final yellow jersey just eluded him, by six seconds. Kinch was among a half dozen front runners to gain a lot of time on the rest of the field on Saturday morning's stage 1, though he had to settle for 6th place and lost 35 seconds to lone winner Brendan Murphy (Dublin University CC). In yesterday evening's 3.6km stage 2 hilly time trial, he placed 13th. But while he lost three further seconds to yellow jersey Murphy, he jumped to third overall; 38 seconds down on Murphy and just nine seconds down on Joseph McCrory of Carn Wheelers starting today's final stage. He won that in a two-up sprint from another south east local, Liam Cullen of Barrow Wheelers. The leading pair came home 32 seconds ahead of a large group containing the yellow jerseyed Murphy, who hung on for the overall win with Kinch the runner up and McCrory on third.

Eventuall overall winner, Brendan Murphy takes stage 1 on Saturday morning by 34 seconds from the rest of the breakaway, with the remainder of the field scattered well back the road. He would come home in 11th place in yesterday evening's 3.6km hill climb time trial, losing 31 seconds to stage winner Colm Dillon of Limerick CC. But that was enough to see Murphy retain his yellow jersey, starting this morning 28 seconds head of Joseph McCrory of Carn Wheelers and 38 seconds ahead of Declan Kinch of Slipstream.
