It was a day of mixed emotions for the Eurocycles team at this morning’s road stage of the Tour of Ulster, with Conor Murphy taking the squad’s second stage win from two but team mate Adam Armstrong losing the yellow jersey.
Murphy was quickest in the finale from a group of ten that gained 1:06 on the peloton containing many of the pre race favourites including stage 1 winner and GC leader Armstrong.
Matt Higgins of NODE4 Giordana was second today and having finish fourth on yesterday’s open stage he now takes the yellow jersey into this evening’s two-mile TT stage.
He leads Murphy by two seconds with Irish vets champion Greg Swinand (Usher IRC) now in third just a further second back. But after that the GC gaps are much bigger, though not insurmountable.

Armstrong is now fourth, 58 seconds down on Higgins. Then the NODE4 Giordana pairing of James Moss and Ricco Rodgers are 5th and 6th respectively, both 1:05 down on their team mate Moss.
There were some great performances today from some riders who seem to be getting stronger every week. Fiachra O’Mhuire of DID Dunboyne was third today, with Michael Barry (Cuchulainn CC) in fourth.
