Aloïs Charrin (Swiss Racing Academy) wins yesterday's stage 6 at the Baby Giro. Irish road race champion Ben Healy made the front group of just 22 riders

Ben Healy (Trinity Racing) has again impressed at the Baby Giro after making the small front group on yesterday's stage 6, which took the riders 177.4km from Bonferraro di Sorgà to San Pellegrino Terme.

Just 22 riders made that lead group, with the stage won by French rider Aloïs Charrin (Swiss Racing Academy) after he got a gap near the finish and held it to the line.

The 20-year-old won the stage by one second from Tobias Johannessen (Uno-X Dare Development Team), who won the sprint for 2nd place from the select group. Healy finished on the same time as Johannessen, placing 11th on the stage.

Healy dropped one place in the general classification, to 8th, after the rider directly behind him Filippo Baroncini (Team Colpack Ballan) took some time bonuses.

With four stages remaining, Spanish 18-year-old Juan Ayuso (Team Colpack Ballan) leads overall after his wins on stages 2 and 5. He has 1:29 in hand on his nearest challenger, Johannessen, with Irish road race champion Healy in 8th at 2:44.

Today's stage 7 is a big one on the race, with 3,100 metres of climbing on the 119.4km road from Sondrio to Lanzada Diga di Campo Moro.

It features a very hard summit finish as the race ends on a HC climb. That final ascent, Lanzada Lago di Campo Moro is 15.7km with an average gradient of 6.5 per cent. There are also two cat climbs just before the riders reach the base of the finish climb, which will make for a very hard race.
