Awful crash on speed bump mars bunch finish at Vuelta Burgos | Video

The crash occurred, right on the front in the lead-out line, on a speed bump on a descent with less than 500m to go

The second stage at Vuelta Burgos has been marred by an awful crash when one of the Jumbo Visma riders came down heavily on a speed bump close to the front of the main field while descending.

Deep into the final kilometre of the 158km stage to Villadiego Jumbo Visma were on the front in lead-out formation trying to set up David Dekker for the victory.

While the first two of the team's riders managed to negotiate the speed bump at high speed, it looked like the third rider was not expecting it and went down very hard.

As the riders were traveling so fast at the time and were so tightly packed, once one of them fell others were also involved. The crash spread across the road and there were a large number of fallers. Some of the riders hit, and went through, the crowd control barriers at the roadside.
