Archie Ryan has wasted no time settling into the surroundings of Jumbo Visma's World Tour team, with the Irishman winning today's stage 2 on the Tour of Slovakia today.

The 20-year-old made the select group on the hilly 186.3km stage from Hlohovec to Banská Štiavnica and on the uphill finish he had far too much power for his rivals to contend with, winning it very impressively after pulling the trigger with about 200 metres to go.

He claimed the victory from Mauri Vansevenant (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) and Lorenzo Fortunato (EOLO-Kometa). Ryan, who was 4th overall at Tour de l'Avenir last month, has been part of the Jumbo Visma Development team for the last three seasons is riding in Slovakia for the Dutch team's World Tour team.

He is now up to 5th overall in the general classification - led by Josef Černý (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) - and is just 10 seconds down with more hilly terrain to come.
