Anthony 'Zippy' Doyle took the first victory of the season for the new VeloRevolution team when he led home a five-man escape group to claim the Harry Reynolds Memorial race in Man O'War this evening.
Having overcome the handicap on the night to ride through all of the early groups, Doyle found himself up front with Javan Nulty (DID Dunboyne), UCD's Colm Cassidy and the junior duo of Mark Downey and Caimin Muldoon from the Nicolas Roche Performance Team heading out onto the last of five laps.
With just 15 seconds advantage at the bell however, there was little time for attacking on the final lap and the quintet continued to ride hard until the final gallop to the line, where Doyle easily beat the rest for his first win of the season.
Nulty outsprinted Downey for second with Cassidy and Muldoon rounding out the top five.
Fintan Ryan and Aaron Swan gave the Nicolas Roche squad another two places in the top eight when Ryan took the bunch sprint for sixth with Anthony Walsh (UCD) sandwiched in between the duo for seventh on the night.
