The penultimate round of the Mondello Bikeworx Series has gone to Anthony Doyle.
On a chilly evening for racing the field fractured and Doyle got the better of the other six riders at the head of affairs.
The Strata 3-VeloRevolution man saw off some very good riders breathing down his neck up the finishing straight.
The man who pushed him closest was Raleigh GAC’s Conn McDunphy, who was forced to settle for runner-up.
McDunphy has graduated from Irish club Lucan CRC to the UK Continental scene after a great season.
Paul O’Reilly of UCD-Fitzcycles.ie, never an easy opponent, rounded out the podium on the night.
Doyle has had a very good run at Mondello this year. Last night’s victory was his second of the season having also won the fifth race in the series in May.
He’s been in the top three at Mondello on four other occasions this year. It means he's been on the podium for half the races in the series.
Doyle also took 3rd in the Masters 40 road race at the National Road Championships in Wexford back in July.
And he claimed 3rd in the Noel O’Neill Trophy in the Phoenix Park earlier in the year.
