Annie Roche has added her own chapter into the story of Ireland's most successful cycling family, claiming a national title today.

The Scott-Quanta rider took gold in the U16 girls race in brutally muddy conditions in Enniscrone, Co Sligo.

She follows in the footsteps of her cousins Nicolas Roche and Dan Martin - both former Irish champions - not to mention her father Jude and his brothers Laurence and Stephen.

Teenager Roche has been progressing through the ranks very strongly in the past couple of years.

And today she took a fantastic win on a day when the youth titles were settled 24 hours before the elite and maters races.
