Annalise Murphy, the former sailor who won Olympic silver in Rio 2016, has ended the 2024 Irish road season as the top ranked domestic rider.
Having won multiple national titles on the track since turning her attention to cycling in recent years, Murphy (Longcourt Hotel-NCW Wheelers) also won the Cycling Ireland National Road Series this year.
She claimed the opening two rounds - the Des Hanlon and Kay Stratton memorials - before finishing 2nd in the next two rounds she rode and 4th in the final round.
Those series results added to her tally in the women's Cycling Ireland rankings - for all events on the road through the season - and she topped the rankings with 94 points.

Murphy led the way by 14 points from Aoife O'Brien (Belco Van Eyck), who made her debut at the elite World Road Championships last month un Zurich.
Aliyah Rafferty (Tofauti Everyone Active), also a Worlds debutant this season, was the first junior in the end of season rankings; finishing 3rd on 72 points. Marine Lenehan (Team Dan Morrissey – Primor by Pissei) was 4th on 61 points.
Another one of our rapidly emerging juniors, who also represented Ireland at the Worlds in 2024, Aine Doherty (VC Glendale) was 5th in the rankings on 58 points followed by Jemma Speers (North Down CC), with 42 points.
