Alice Sharpe has stepped up a level this year and seems to be reveling in it; taking another quality result in Switzerland yesterday.
Alice Sharpe has
taken her best result of the season in her latest outing for her trade
team on the international pro circuit.
Irish road and
track international Sharpe claimed 8th in the UCI 1.2-ranked SwissEver GP Cham-Hagendorn
yesterday.
Riding for the
WCC Team, the UCI’s women’s pro road racing outfit, Sharpe made the
selection of 15 riders that rode away
from the rest of the field.
That itself was a
very solid ride in the 90-rider international field. It included teams such as
Bigla, Lotto-Soudal, Health Mate, Eurotarget-Bianchi-Vittoria, Valcar Cylance and the Swiss national team.
She finished halfway down the breakaway group sprinting for victory, with Bigla Pro Cycling taking 1st and 2nd after 111.6km of racing.
Julie Leth and Lizzie Banks took the Bigla 1-2 from Kathrin Schweinberger of Health Mate-Cyclelive.
Sharpe was one of two Irish riders in the field; Lauren
Creamer taking 50th place in the colours of Multum Accountants.
Earlier this month in Holland Alice Sharpe also enjoyed a
strong showing in the Festival Elsy Jacobs (2.1) stage race.
She claimed three top 20 finishes and was 16th overall;
that race won by former world champion Lisa Brennauer (WNT-Rotor Pro).
