Alan Galavan takes Corkman Three-Day TT stage; now leads overall

By Brian Canty

Alan Galavan (Slaney CC) holds a three second advantage over Sean Hahessy (Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers) and Dylan Foley (St Finbarr’s) going into this afternoon’s third stage of the Corkman Three-Day in Kanturk.

Galavan blasted to stage two TT victory this morning with a superb time of 10 minutes 48 seconds for the eight kilometre course, using the slight tailwind to his advantage on the largely flat course.

The Slaney rider doesn’t have the luxury of a team with him for the weekend and will do well to hold onto the race leader’s yellow jersey with almost 20 riders within 30 seconds of him for today’s (Sunday’s) 70 kilometre afternoon stage in Banteer.

Hahessy and Foley are both A3 riders and are nicely poised, plus they both have teams so a big challenge is expected from them.
