There were a large number of fallers during this bunch sprint crash on the opening stage of the Charleville Two Day A4 race (Video by Clare Coleman)

Alan Buckley leads A4 Charleville Two Day

Greenmount's Alan Buckley is in the yellow jersey at the Charleville Two Day A4 race after taking this evening's TT stage.

This morning's 86.2km road stage was hit by crash in the sprint. A large number of riders came down hard.

However, Finbar Conheady (Burren CC) had already shot off the front of the peloton and he took the stage by one second.

He could perhaps have taken slightly more time had he not celebrated so early. Albert Murphy (Dolmen CC) emerged from the chaos behind the winner for 2nd.

And rounding out the podium was Cahir O'Higgins; the Orwell-Scott rider having recovered from a hit and run while training in Greece the week before last.

When Buckley popped up and won the afternoon 6.1km TT by a massive 30 seconds, all bets were off and he went into the yellow jersey.

He now leads from the men who were 2nd, 3rd and 4th in that TT.
