Aidan Crowley romps in to win Masters 40 Irish road title

Aidan Crowley flies over the finish line, his arms aloft in victory, as he takes the national crown.

A stalwart of the domestic scene since he was a teenager and winner of countless races across the country for three decades now, Aidan Crowley has today taken his first national road title.

The Cork man, riding in the colours of his own team Strata3-VeloRevolution, storm in at the finish of the Masters 40 National Road Race Championships in Omagh, Co Tyrone, this afternoon.

Crowley was a comfortable winner when the race came down to a huge bunch sprint after a series of escapes containing may of the big favourites were closed down.

Craig Sweetman of Stamullen was 2nd, with Liam Curran of Curran Racing in 3rd place.

The team prize was won by Phoenix CC via Peter Stewart, Gerard Maguire and Geoff Hewitt.
