Adam Yates may have been the big pre-race favourite to win UAE Tour but the British rider is now out of the race after suffering a heavy fall, with head impact, during today's stage 3.
The UAE Team Emirates rider was among a small number of fallers with about 46km to go, with the TV footage capturing what was a very nasty crash for the Briton,
Yates, already the queen stage and overall win at Tour of Oman this year, got back on his bike and began a pursuit of the main field. However, he later climbed off and did not conclude the uphill finish of Jebel Jais.

The stage was won by one of the other in-form men of the early season, Ben O'Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team). The Australian rider took a very aggressive approach to the finish and secured a fine solo victory.
He finished five seconds ahead of a chasing group, led in by Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates) from Lennert Van Eetvelt (Lotto Dstny).
Vine now leads the race overall by 11 seconds from O'Connor, with Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) in 3rd overall at 13 seconds.
More to come.
