Adam Ward, Breandan Flannagan take Strabane Lifford win
Having broken clear in a two-man move with team mate Lindsay Watson to record a 1-2 on Saturday, Adam Ward did it again on Sunday.
Saturday’s effort saw him take 2nd behind Watson at the JG Memorial in Cranford, Donegal.
And on Sunday, in the Strabane Lifford GP A2-A3 event, his partner in crime was fellow junior Breandan Flannagan.
With the A2-A3 contest held over four laps of a 16 mile circuit, the Powerhouse Sport juniors finished side by side for a double celebration.
And while Watson took the honours ahead of Ward 24 hours earlier, this time it was Adam Ward winning and Flannagan taking 2nd place.
Around halfway through the contest Flannagan, who is himself having a great season, forged clear in a small group.
And when it pulled out a gap of around 30 seconds Ward took flight on his own after the breakaway.
He made his move on the drag at the back of course and quickly caught the leaders.
With the plan having worked once, Ward decided he'd try it again; jumping on the same drag on the final lap.
He’d pull clear but was then caught, only for Flannagan to counter attack and eke out a gap on his own.
Ward waited before jumping from the breakaway again; this time catching his team mate solo.
They then combined their efforts and put on a double celebration at the end as they took the chequered flag.
