Adam Skeet takes victory at Armagh Road Race
After his victory at the Keevan Autumn Classic last weekend, Adam Skeet has taken another win.
The Northern CC-Dave Kane rider claimed victory in the Armagh Road Race yesterday; the first running of the event by Armagh City Cyclists.
Two victories on successive weekends in A4 races has seen Skeet now gain promotion to A3.
Yesterday he emerged the winner from a breakaway. On the first of the four 10-mile laps a group of around eight riders broke clear.
And while the escape pulled out a good gap, the pace up front wasn’t to everyone’s liking.
Indeed, in the closing stages the group had whittled right down. Just two riders remained in the escape going onto the final lap; Skeet and Paul McArthur of North Down Cycling Club.
Skeet would then press on solo on the final loop. But Masters 50 rider McArthur held his shape after a day on the attack to hang on for 2nd place; a strong performance.
Behind the two leaders, Kevin Walker (Dromara Cycling Club) took the sprint for 3rd from Mark Dickson (Clogher Valley Wheelers) and Donal Gallagher (Omagh Wheelers).
