Aaron Wade has today taken his second big win in successive weekends after he got the better of Matt Teggart in the two-up sprint for victory in the fifth and final round of the Cycling Ireland National Road Series promoted by Banbridge CC.

Wade (Team U Cube 17), who claimed his first elite division one victory in France last weekend, and Teggart (Wiv SunGod) emerged strongest in the finale of today's race on the undulating Dromore circuit in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains.

The leading duo were part of a very large breakaway that went clear early in the race and quickly built an advantage of one minute on the main field, which grew much larger in the latter stages of the race.

And when that large grew split in the business end of the event, six riders forged clear of it. They were: Aaron Wade (Team U Cube 17), Gareth O'Neill (Caldwell Cycles), Daire Feeley (All human-VeloRevolution) Matthew Teggart (Wiv SunGod), Luke Smith (Moynalty CC) and Matteo Cigala (Dan Morrissey-Pactimo).

Teggart and Wade then proved best in the exchanges off the front of that lead group as the finish approached, with the duo pulling clear of the four chasers and going on to contest for the victory; Wade taking it from Teggart. Rás Tailteann winner Daire Feeley emerged best of the chasers to take 3rd place.

Lots more to come.
