A young Sam Bennett going viral on social media
In a mark of Sam Bennett’s growing fame after bagging four wins in the recent Tour of Turkey, old clips of his bike handling skills were today going viral online.
Some major social media accounts and international cycling sites all went for the same clip of the Irishman.
It was from the Tour of Britain back in 2013; stage 6 into from Sidmouth to Haytor to be precise.
Bennett had won the 177km stage the previous day from Machynlleth to Caerphilly.
And when he punctured on stage 6 he faced a frantic chase back through the cavalcade.
Then aged just 22 years, he showed no fear in jumping from car to car to get back on.

And even though his chase very nearly ended in the back of the doctor’s car, he made it all the way; though wasn't placed on the stage.
For some reason the clip resurfaced today; an indication of just how newsworthy Sam Bennett has become internationally.
He enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough week at the Tour of Turkey earlier this month. He took four of the six stages on offer.

And he would surely have one the final leg into Istanbul but for a crash on the penultimate corner.
