Just one day after news emerged about a Garda online video portal in Ireland comes a reminder of the value of self-recorded footage.
This latest incident occurred in the US, where EF Education's Alex Howes and Kiel Reijnen of Trek Segafredo were getting the miles in on a winter training ride.
According to their Strava data they've been training in southern California, with a near six-hour ride yesterday that took in the Mojave National Preserve.
As they were descending the climb in this video, above, they were met with not one, but two, oncoming drivers in their carriageway. Both drivers were overtaking at speed coming up the hill despite the continuous white line.
Luckily both riders were keeping well over to their right and also managed to move in a little further when they spotted the two drivers hurtling towards them.
The margin for error at this speed is absolutely tiny so, unfortunately, you need to expect the unexpected and you can't count on all drivers doing the right thing. That's especially the case when descending in Ireland at this time of the year when the roads can be slippery and wet.
