The Wicklow 200 sportive that had been set for early June has now been postponed for two months.

While the postponed of the event is a blow to the sportive scene as it is one of the biggest events of the year, the good news is that a new date has been fixed.

It was set to run in Co Wicklow on June 7th but has now been moved from that date due to the Covid19 crisis and has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 9th.

That means cyclists will have an extra couple of months to train for it. And when the event is eventually held it will come as something of a relief to the cycling community that things have returned to normal.

The organisers said they had no choice but to reschedule the event and will be contacting everyone already registered.

"We are very disappointed to have to do this. Registered participants will transfer directly to the new event. We are emailing all participants with details today," the Wicklow 200 said in a brief statement.

You can of course still enter for the event by following this link.
