Whistleblowers: Paul Kimmage & David Walsh set for public interview in Limerick

The two men most instrumental in the outing of disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong as a career-long doper, Paul Kimmage and David Walsh are to appear at a public interview in Limerick later this month.

The charity ‘Whistleblowers’ event is to be held in Limerick on February 25th with all proceeds in aid of Cycle 4 Sick Children and the Limerick Simon Community, which works with homeless people in the city.

The journalists will be interviewed by well know writer and broadcaster Alan English, the editor of the Limerick Leader newspaper.

The organisers of the event say of Walsh and Kimmage:They endured both personal abuse and lawsuits aimed at preventing them from telling the truth about Armstrong, now widely regarded as the biggest cheat in sports history.”

“Now, their journalism has been resoundingly vindicated. Alan English, editor of the Limerick Leader, was a long-time colleague of Walsh and Kimmage at The Sunday Times and was himself sued by Armstrong over a piece he wrote detailing David Walsh's long pursuit of the cyclist.”

“The Sunday Times has now countersued, seeking £1 million from Armstrong after it was forced to settle that libel case in 2006. Alan English will talk to two of the major players in the sordid saga of Lance Armstrong about the roles they played.”

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Monday February 4th. They cost €15 for adults, with a special €12 rate for students, pensioners and those who are currently unwaged.
