
The high performance programme and staff salaries and wages account for a very significant part of Cycling Ireland's spending, as these latest figures reveal.
Sending Ireland's top riders to compete on the international stage is the biggest expense faced by Cycling Ireland annually, its latest financial records reveal.
Details of income and expenditure for the national governing body show that high performance event costs are now exceeding €400,000, with other costs associated with the high performance programme exceeding €300,000.
Specifically, the 2014 income and expenditure details reveal high performance event costs reached €407,480 while high performance central costs were €301,053 - or €708, 523 combined for the year.
The 2014 details are the latest set of figures available, with no records having yet been released for 2015.
The sum of €708,523 for the high performance programme in 2014 does not include coaching, which reached €150,213 in 2014.
In total, wages and salaries cost €383,534 in 2014.* According to the federation 11 people were paid salaries by the organisation in 2014.
On the income side, affiliation fees for almost 30,000 members now exceed €1 million - with €1.054 million taken in during 2014.
And Irish Sports Council funding - from the general core grant and the high performance grant - reached €595, 824 in 2014.
Despite the growth in the number of Cycling Ireland members and the success of the track and paracycling squads in particular, sponsorship remains very low, bringing in just €30,000 in 2014.
