We're having a poll on British Cycling's sexism row; have your say

Emma Pooley's comments sparked a reply from Team Sky's Peter Kennaugh who quickly deleted his tweets and suspended his Twitter account.

Any hope within British Cycling that the resignation of Shane Sutton as technical director and plans by the organisation to hold a review into the allegations of sexism and bullying might calm things have been proven unfounded.

The organisation has now been forced to begin an inquiry into whether Team GB kit, including bikes worth £10,000 were sold online and other kit went missing.

And former world champion Emma Pooley has also entered the fray.

She has suggested it was sexist of British Cycling to team up with Sky and create Team Sky to try and win the Tour de France while the federation made no plans to set up a women's team to help her win the Giro d'Italia, which she was 2nd in twice.

She also said if British Cycling was going to examine its practices and programmes, then Dave Brailsford’s former role with the body needed to be examined as well as Sutton’s.

Current Team Sky rider Peter Kennaugh – who is managed by Brailsford - reacted on Twitter urging Pooley to stop being self centred.

And he also questioned why a women's team should be set up to win a race nobody in Britain had ever heard of.
