For cyclists bestowed with modest talent, the way into the pro scene is to work for a top team. If you ever harboured those ambitions now is your chance as Ireland's new pro team Aqua Blue Sport is hiring.

The ProContinental outfit is currently searching for personnel to drive the team bus next season and a head mechanic.

The team says pro experience is essential. And you will definitely need to be able to work long hours and perform under pressure.

And because the team is based in France and will be on the road for about nine months of the year, the ability to travel far and wide is an absolute must.

Team bus driver might sound like an easy role but it definitely isn’t; just ask the man who somehow managed to get the IAM Cycling team bus stuck on stage five of the Tour de Suisse.

Or have a chat with the Orica-GreenEdge driver who got his vehicle stuck under the gantry at the Tour a few years ago.

If you don't fancy being the bus driver, what about a job as head mechanic?

You’ll be responsible for fixing, fine-tuning, washing and probably blow-drying each bike, every day of training camp and before and after races.

You’ll be the first to get a bollocking if a chain slips or a tub rolls and you’ll probably spend up to 200 days away from home.

But we suspect there will be plenty of takers because while it is a pressurised role, it would offer an interesting insight right inside the sport while working at some of the biggest races in the world.
