Vuelta cameraman who ran in front of Pidcock punished, but footage still used | Video

This cameraman, who ran on the road in front of Tom Pidcock, was suspended from the race for two days. But the Vuelta has still used the footage the cameraman shot on its social media accounts

A cameraman who ran in front of Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling), to get footage for the Vuelta's official was social media accounts has been punished over the incident.

He was suspended from working on the road on today's stage 14 and tomorrow's stage 15. However, despite this, the Vuelta still used the footage he shot, sharing it on social media with the words: "That's why we love cycling".

It seems he suspended for two stages by the UCI's college of commissaires, rather than the race organisers. And that perhaps explains why the Vuelta took his footage from the controversial incident and still used it.

The footage was shot as Pidcock neared the top of the Angliru, where the stage finished on Friday, and where the British rider rode very well to retain his place in the top three.

However, while the cameraman, who shoots for the Vuelta's social media channels, will be allowed to resume work after this weekend, one of his colleagues is not so lucky.
