Video: Young Navan rider battles on after horribly hard fall in cyclocross

How he normally looks; young Sean Nolan is one of the best youth riders in the country at present but took a nasty fall in the cyclocross in Navan on Sunday (Photo with thanks to Ian Weir)

Young Sean Nolan went to school today and we just know he took an absolute pasting from his friends after the little ‘lie-down’ he took during Sunday's Navan RC-promoted cyclocross race in Blackwater Park in the Meath town.

Nolan, riding for the host club, was one of the favourites for the underage event and he was well on his way to a medal when disaster struck.

Approaching one of the jumps on the course, Nolan was absolutely certain he’d bunny hop it without having to dismount.

In hindsight, he knows that’s exactly what he should have done.

The video footage - below - that appeared in the aftermath shows Nolan clearing the obstacle with his front wheel, but enjoying much worse luck with the rear wheel.

The end result is a right slap off the sheet of timber that followed the jump, as the video below reveals.

In fairness to the teenager, he dusted himself down admirably after falling very hard and trucked on to finish the race, taking a bronze medal for his efforts.

He has already shown a lot of talent on the road racing scene and the grapevine says he is a very tough competitor.

Keep an eye out for him as it looks like we will be hearing a lot about him into the future.
