Video: Who's to blame for this crash; the cyclist or motorist?

This clip has just emerged and has split social media users on whether the taxi driver is to blame or the cyclist. What do you think?

Here’s an interesting video that has been dividing social media users arguing exactly who is to blame here; the taxi driver or the cyclist.

The good news is the collision was very low speed and the cyclist appeared uninjured. It also looked like there was damage to his bike; nothing serious anyway.

The footage was captured by another cyclist who was close by when the incident occurred on a street in London.

As a number of cyclists snake through the lines of traffic, the pink taxi is trying to turn left.

The driver apparently sees one rider passing on the inside. He lets him go before beginning to take the turn, with his indicator on.

However, another rider is also attempting to pass on the inside and is struck by the vehicle turning left.

Much of the comment has focussed on the fact the taxi driver indicated very late so the cyclist would not have known the car was turning left until it was too late.

While it’s difficult to see whether the indicator was on when the rider approached from behind began to pass, we think it was.

And while the driver clearly saw one rider pass on the inside and let him go but didn’t do the same for the cyclist who ended up on the deck; we think the cyclist shoulders most of the blame.

What’s your take on it?
