The on-board footage captured during stage 10 of the Vuelta was littered with crashes; some of the riders emerging with nasty injuries.
The pro peloton is never a place for the feint hearted, but that was especially so on stage 10 of the Vuelta yesterday when the on-board footage captured a series of bad crashes.
Sam Bennett’s Bora-Argon 18 team mate Bartosz Huzarski was one of the really unlucky ones; fracturing his collarbone and being forced out of the race.
Adam Hansen of Lotto-Soudal was also left nursing a nasty would to his lip having hit the deck hard in a crash, which he termed a “group hug sessions mid-race”.
But it was Trek-Segafredo’s Markel Irizar who was left with the most painful looking injuries after he fell and landed on his face, breaking a number of teeth.
He posted the photos below on Twitter last night looking very much the worse for wear.
The 36-year-old Spaniard has been a pro since 2004 so he's had his fair of injuries and crashes; let's hope he bounces back from this one sooner rather than later.
He came down in the first crash capture in the on-board footage below.
Not nice...
We have been worse no? So no reason to complain! Soon we will be back!#bizipoz ??? pic.twitter.com/qvbNC9atuF
