Video: Viviani crying his eyes out after Sagan pips him at Gent-Wevelgem

Viviani crying Wevelgem

This is how much these top pros want to win, and how bad they feel when it doesn't happen. Viviani sat on the pavement and balled his eyes out.

Top pro bike riders have buckets of class. And most also have a low fear of failure and a really high will to win.

And that will to win was on show at the end of Gent-Wevelgem today. Elia Viviani (QuickStep) took 2nd place, a very good result.

However, the Italian has been in absolutely flying form his season. And every time he sprints for first place he wants to win.

He left his late surge a little bit too late today. And in the sprint from the leading group it was Peter Sagan who proved best.

The world champion and Bora-hansgrohe rider kicked early, got the gap and won the day.

Viviani was closing all the time as the finish line neared. But he ran out of road and Sagan also proved too strong.

Viviani crossed the finish line the runner-up. He was banging his handlebars in frustration at having missed a big win.

He was the best sprinter in the group and also had team mates there to help.

And when he came to a stop after the finish he got off his bike and sat on the ground. Elia Viviani then just sat there and balled his eyes out.

This video really captures just how much these guys want to win, and how badly they feel when it doesn't happen.
