Video: Very close-up footage shows what Moscon did at KBK

Gianni Moscon is capable of being one of the best in the world when he is on song. But he has developed a bad reputation in the bunch, which he added to today at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne

Close-up footage, below, of Gianni Moscon at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne shows the incident in detail that resulted in his disqualification from the race.

The Italian riding with Team Ineos was among a number of fallers with about 70km remaining in the Belgian semi classic.

As he attempted to right himself and get going again he picked up somebody else's bike and tossed it aside, with another rider standing in the line of fire so to speak.

Former Belgian champion Jens Debusschere (B&B Hotels-Vital Concept) identified himself as the rider in whose direction the bike was tossed.

He was not impressed, saying Moscon had been at the centre of repeated incidents during his career and claiming he was not liked by many pros because of his behaviour.

When the footage was reviewed by commissaires, Moscon was told about 35km later than he had been disqualified and he pulled his race numbers from his jersey in response.

Team Ineos directeur Gabriel Rasch said he met with the race
commissaires over the incident and he was quoted in a brief statement issued by
the team.

"The commissaires showed me the incident on the big
screen as the TVs in the car are too small to really see it,” Rasch said.

"I agree it's something that should not have happened. We will speak to Gianni about it later this evening. Ultimately we respect the decision made by the commissaries."
