Police in the US have launched an appeal for a driver who hit a cyclist at a crossing and then left the scene before officers arrived.
The cyclist threw his arms up in the air as he rode onto the crossing, apparently in protest that the approaching drivers were not slowing down.
However, while he might have thought the drivers would stop, neither of them did and one he was hit hard by one of the cars.
While the driver he hit the cyclist stopped just after the crash to check on the cyclist, he then got back in his car and drove off.
CCTV footage in the area captured the crash and has been released by the local police force in the hope the driver will be tracked down or come forward himself.
The incident occurred on November 1st in St Petersburg, Florida, at a crossing where on the Pinellas Trail, a greenway for cycling, walking and jogging.
The cyclist, Steven Weldon, has spoken about the incident saying he believed for a moment the drivers would stop but realised too late that that was not going to happen.
He said the just-released video was distressing to watch: “Once I see it like; I mean I’m like... he hit me for real. I look up like, 'You’re not gonna stop.' The other guy just clips me.”
He suffered broken bones in both wrists and said while the driver who took him out stopped briefly, he appeared to panic and take off in his car.
