Video: US-based pro Stephen Clancy back home and motor pacing Irish-style!

Stephen Clancy is used to the glamour - and suffering - of international pro cycling. But during a training spin on home roads he got a uniquely Irish experience!

He may be more accustomed to the sights and smells of the pro peloton after a couple of seasons at ProContinental level, but Stephen Clancy got a unique dose of the old sod on a recent spin back home.

The Limerick man, who rides for US-based Novo Nordisk, is back in Ireland at present and hit his old training roads of Limerick last week.

He wasn't looking for any motor pacing, opting instead for a more leisurely end of season work out.

But when these sulkies came past he couldn't resist getting in behind for a bit of speed training to blow away the cob webs (while shooting this video).

It's probably one that our international readers will appreciate most!

Clancy is doing very well on the bike despite a shock diabetes diagnosis when he was just starting to establish himself three years ago. But he secured a contract with Novo Nordisk - a team whose riders all have diabetes – and hasn’t looked back.
