Truck with full timber load passing riders very close and at speed on minor road in the west; just missing another oncoming truck.
The video below was posted on YouTube today, Friday, by Cunga CC. It shows a small group of riders on the road between the villages of Cong, Co Mayo, and Clonbur, Co Galway.
A large truck with a full timber load overtakes the riders at speed. The cyclists who posted the clip believe the truck was linked to the timber works of Earrai Coillte Chonnacht Teoranta, Corr na Mona, in the area.
The video was posted with the following message:
"Everyone is afraid of cycling between the villages of Cong and Clonbur these days. Its like running a gauntlet with timber laden lorries ruling the roads.
"Watch as this guy overtakes without fully crossing the median line and just avoids another lorry coming the other way. How much faster did he get to the mill? 20 seconds? Is a life worth 20 seconds?
"All this happened within the village 50kmph boundary. Please slow down."
On viewing the short clip below it's hard to disagree with the sentiments expressed here.
