This is what cyclists are dealing with on the roads, especially on tight urban streets. This is not acceptable. But it also reminds us of the dangers at this time of year with the early dark evenings.
Usually we're reporting on cyclists having near misses, and sometimes losing their lives, in crashes with trucks turning left.
However, in this case it's a car (a whole one) that this truck driver doesn't seem to see. When the driver finally jams on, it's too late.
The car has already been hit by the large truck in what looks like Dublin's south inner city.
This is simply not acceptable on the streets of Ireland; the truck's blind spot really undermining the safety of such a large vehicle.
And hopefully this incident is investigated and something positive comes from it.
There's not a cyclist in sight here and it goes without saying that the lessons from this clip are for the driver and, perhaps more so, for haulage companies.
These roads not suitable for such a large vehicle with a gaping blind spot.
But at this time of year, with the clocks about to go back, this incident is a timely reminder of the dangers cyclists can face on the roads.
And those dangers are heightened when the dark early evenings set in. In previous years we have had cause to report on crashes in which cyclists have lost their lives.
In some years clusters of cycling fatalities have occurred at the start of the dark evenings; around about now.
As a result, we're sharing this video to drive home just how vigilant we have to be on our bikes.
Be careful out there people. Some drivers won't see you. That's not right. But you need to be aware of it and be vigilant and well-lit.
