Damiano Caruso of BMC picks himself up after hitting a roundabout at almost 50kph on stage 6 of the Tour de France. The smash and chase back on were captured by his on-board GoPro camera; footage below.
The on-board camera footage captured by the riders of the Tour de France on stage 6 from Abbeville to Le Havre (191.5km) was perhaps not as dramatic as recent days.
For the past couple of stages the wet roads and nervy peloton has made for some very slippery and dangerous racing, with numerous huge spills filmed on the tiny cameras on board the bikes.
However, the stage 6 official GoPro highlights clip, below, reveals just how close the riders are to each other when racing.
They also get pretty close to their team cars, at very high speeds, when coming back to the peloton after mishaps.
And today's footage also really hammers home how close those riders at the side of the road get to spectators.
Caruso's (BMC) speed when he crashed at the roundabout was 48.38 km/hr #TDF2015

Today's "most spectacular" event was recorded by BMC's Italian rider Damiano Caruso.
He found himself caught out when a traffic island appeared in his path exiting a corner.
The 27-year-old strongman followed some of those ahead in bunny hopping onto the feature.
But he came a cropper when he hit a hay bale placed in front of a metal sign fixed to the ground.
The Dimension Data tracker on his bike revealed he was travelling at 48.38kph at the moment of impact.
But he gingerly jumped up and got down to chasing back on, with the aid of his team car; the back bumper of which was just inches from his front wheel.
And his team mate can then be seen remonstrating and gesturing to some spectators at the side of the road who seem to be almost leaning in on the riders.
It's all well worth a look.
