Video: Brilliant slow-mo footage of huge Tour of Ulster line-out

This line-out shoots out of the mist, with the roadside camera rolling to capture the pain in slow-motion. The line of riders just keeps going and going; great clip by Gary McIlroy.

Video Tour of Ulster line-out in slow-motion, looks painful

Anyone who has ever raced knows the pain of a really hard line-out; that all-out effort just to keep up with the wheel in front of you.

And when the bunch is lined out in single file it can be a long, long way from the front to the back.

Indeed, the difference between being in the middle of the line and up the front can be huge.

It means if somebody lets a gap open the field splits and you’re distanced by a considerable margin before you even know it’s happened.

Commissaire Gary McIlroy got this excellent footage from the Tour of Ulster at the weekend.

It shows the bunch lined out on the approach to the cat 1 ascent of Slieve Croob on the second stage.

The breakaway is away and the hammer is really on in pursuit, as you can see from this big long line and the gaps appearing.

The riders also shoot out of the mist and into blue skies in the video, below.

Watch until the end because the camera follows the riders up the road and there’s a clear view of the whole line-out.
