Orica-BikeExchange rider Esteban Chaves was one of the hundreds of party-goers who took part in an epic and completely bonkers annual festival tradition in his adopted home of Girona last night. Take a look at the video below...
Dan Jones is the man behind the popular Orica-BikeExchange backstage pass videos and they’ve received huge acclaim for the manner in which they bring the fans inside the team’s races.
They’ve been going a few years now and are always a big hit, with the 20-minute video dedicated to Matt Hayman’s win at Paris-Roubaix this year receiving over 400,000 hits.
The Australian follows the team from one end of the year to the other and be it Grand Tours or one-day races he’s never too far from the action.
But late October is very much ‘let your hair down season’ for professional riders and their staff and that was very much in evidence last night in the Catalan town of Girona where several of the team live.
‘Jonesy’ as he’s more commonly known was partaking in an annual festival tradition known as the Correfoc where 'devils' dance among the crowds carrying sticks loaded with firecrackers.
Included here are the likes of Esteban Chaves, Sam Bewley, Michael Hepburn as well as a few significant others!
The madness that went down…
