Video: Tirreno-Adriatico rider crashes into barrier, over side of road

A breakaway ride was going well until he crashed, went under the barriers - with a serious smack to the head and neck - and then over the side of the road.
Katusha rider Matvey Mamykin has taken a nasty fall on today's queen stage of Tirreno-Adriatico.
Having spent the majority of the stage in the breakaway that was being caught, his back wheel went from under him on a sweeping bend.
He crashed hard onto the tarmac and slid across the road before hitting the roadside barrier.
His speed took him under the barrier and off the side of the road, though he remounted and continued.
A spectator could be seen scurrying down the steep grass bank to help Mamykin back up onto the road.
To his credit, he dusted himself off and got going again though no doubt he will feel plenty of aches and pains tomorrow morning.
However, it could have been a lot worse, as was the case for a rider in Paris-Nice last year.
Astana’s Daniil Fominykh broke a number of bones in his back after coming off the road and crashing over a cliff wall into a ravine.
The 24-year-old suffered the spectacular crash between L’Escarène and Grave Peille on the final stage.
He'll feel this later
