It may not look like much, but this tiny device has the power to revolutionise cycling in the modern urban environment.
This smart add-e device is essentially a small motor that sits under the bottom bracket section of your bike and pushes your rear wheel along
The major advantage of the add-e is that it can be fitted to any bike. And once it's in place you wouldn't know it's there.
On the down side, it comes in a number of parts that have to be assembled as a kit on your bike before you're up and running.
And priced between $750 and $1,100; this piece of kit is not cheap.
But the gain is pretty massive.
It can fire you along at up to 50kph and generates 600 watts of power.
That's enough kick to turn your bicycle into a mini motorbike by simply charging a small unit that sits discreetly under any frame.
All of a sudden, a commute of up to 30-40km seems manageable for those who would never have dreamed of cycling anywhere.
That's a lot of cars to whizz past as they sit in bumper to bumper traffic jams while you fly along stress-free to and from work or college.
This gem was 251 per cent funded on indiegogo.com earlier this year when it raised a whopping €396,625.
The add-e

This is what the full kit looks like.

Above, how it looks when the full kit has been fitted.

A black cable runs from the "water bottle" power unit to the e-add motor.

The device fitted under the bottom bracket area is very neat.
