Video: Think Nibali's tow off a team car was bad? Check this out, from New York

He starts his tow off a truck just as he passes a police car and keeps it going as the truck speeds down a soaking wet and badly surfaced road.

If you thought Vincenzo Nibali's tow from a team car on the Vuelta a couple of years ago was bad, take a look at this guy.

The cyclist - who appears to be a bike courier – is taking a tow from a truck across the Williamsburg Bridge over the East River in New York.

It connects the Lower East Side of Manhattan at Delancey Street with the Williamsburg neighbourhood of Brooklyn at Broadway near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

He starts taking the tow shortly after passing a police car and holds on as the truck reaches speed, despite the fact the road surface is uneven and potholed in places.

The rain is hammering down and there's a huge amount of water coming from the truck's wheels.

But even when the vehicle appears to veer right, closing the door on the cyclist a little, the bike messenger still holds on; even when a black bag blows across the road towards him.

At one point he takes his hand off the truck to give the driver the finger, only to grab the vehicle again and keep taking his tow. This is absolutely crazy and is definitely not recommended.

Over the slippy white lines which are like ice in the wet.

Check out the surface just ahead of the cyclist in this shot; the truck bounces off the road a number of times the surface is so uneven.

At one stage  this black plastic bag blows towards the cyclist from the edge of the road.

A pothole just ahead of the rider and right in his path; but he doesn't seem to mind.

He even gives the driver the finger, apparently because the truck is veering right.

After his "hand signal" he continues taking the tow, with the road surface especially wet on the final part of the incident and a huge quantity of rain water coming from underneath the vehicle's wheels.
