Video: Sean Yates gets Tour ban after this bottle thrown at TV crew

Tinkoff-Saxo directeur Sean Yates will not be on the Tour de France tomorrow because of the bottle throwing incident captured in the clip below.

Tensions were running high as Tinkoff Saxo mechanic Faustino Muñoz hurled a water bottle at a television cameraman on today’s 15th stage of the Tour de France.

Munoz was incensed because the motorbike the TV cameraman was on got too close to Peter Sagan when he stopped for a bike change with 40km remaining.

Sagan said afterwards the cameraman and his driver had stopped their bike in between rider and team car, slowing the bike change.

The green jerseyed Sagan was in the breakaway and firmly in the hunt for a stage win meaning a quick change was badly needed.

Sagan was eventually given a new bike but his mechanic took revenge on the offending TV crew by hurling a water bottle at him; all captured on camera of course.

The drama didn’t end there though.

Team directeur Sean Yates - who was driving the car at the time and was pushing Sagan into action again as the bidon was being thrown at the TV crew - was given a one-day ban from the race.

He won’t be allowed behind the wheel tomorrow, Monday.

Have a look at the incident and let us know was it a little blown out of proportion?

Or is the one-day ban a proportionate response to the unpleasant abuse of working journalists?
