Video: Sagan loses it with Vuelta officials after moto crashes into him

Peter Sagan lands on his back and neck, with his legs still up in the air, after he was knocked off his bike by a motorbike on stage 8 of the Vuelta.

One of the best riders in the pro bunch who rarely fails to entertain on or off the bike, Peter Sagan vented his anger with race officials on the Vuelta today when a motorbike knocked him off.

The Slovak riding for Tinkoff-Saxo was in the thick of the action with 8km remaining of the 182.5km stage 8 from Puebla de Don Fabrique to Murcia.

His team was bringing a doomed breakaway back and he had just attacked off the front shortly before disaster struck.

At the time of writing no clear footage of Sagan's crash had emerged.

But his team said he was at the front of the peloton when he moved to his left towards the kerb when a neutral service motorbike overtaking the bunch on the left hit him as it passed.

Sagan was thrown off his bike and up into the air, landing hard as the photo above suggests.

He struggled to his feet and limped home in 64th position, some 5:27 down on Jasper Stuyven (Trek Factory Racing)  who won the bunch sprint after a day of drama.

But before he remounted, his shorts almost completely ripped from his left thigh, Sagan gave everyone around him a piece of his mind, as the video below reveals.

He got to his feet and when the medic's car pulled in beside him to check if he was OK, an irate Sgan punched the vehicle.

He then engaged in what looked like a very angry verbal exchange with a moto rider who was also stopped at the scene, before kicking the motorbike.

And stilll steaming from his spill, on a day when he may well have won the stage, he gave his own bike a massive kick.
